New Response for IRC Phase 3 Spectroscoppic data

Last Update : 09/12/15

Revised RSRF (Relative Spectral Response Function) for the Phase 3 IRC Spectroscopic mode observation data is provided to general users.(*)

Your comments are appreciated. Please try them and send your comments toiris_help.

The RSRF is investigated and created by Takashi Shimonishi at the University of Tokyo.

(*) The data have been assessed by the team members and opened to the general AKARI users since Dec. 3, 2009. Sorry for remaining comments about 'team internal' etc. until Dec. 15th

[Data]

[Usage]

  1. Install Place the new files under
    IRC_SPEC_TOOLKIT_P3/ASTRO-F/IRC_SPECRED/CALIBDIR/RESPONSE/,
then edit RESPONSE_NG.lst and RESPONSE_NP.lst in the same directory to replace the filenames in there (delete all of them) with those of new files.

  2. Options for irc_specred
These RSRFs were derived based on results of standard stars reduced with the standard toolkit with the parameters of /no_slit_flat and nsum= 5--8. No other specific options were used. The results were not very sensitive to the method of the background sky subtraction at least for the standard stars.

  3. Run plot_spec_with_image with the new RSRF
You can analyze your data from plot_spec_with_image. You do not have to start it over from irc_specred.
When you try plot_spec_with_image with the new RSR, you will receive the following warning message, but it is harmless and you will still get the correct result.
Warning (irc_senscalib): Sizes of response file and input image are not same!

  4. Reference
Please refer to the Presentation file by Shimonishi in the Phase 3 workshop for details of the processing.
