New Response for IRC Phase 3 Spectroscopic data
Last Update : 2011/03/01
[Important Notes] (2011/03/01)
We are very sorry to report that we found a serious bug in the
present response curves for IRC spectroscopy of phase 3 observations.
The uncertainties in the response were erroneously estimated by 30%
lower than it should be. This affects both NG and NP spectroscopy.
We hope that these will not seriously affect your research results.
Revised RSRF (Relative Spectral Response Function) for the
Phase 3 IRC Spectroscopic mode observation data
is provided to general users.
Your comments are appreciated. Please try them and send
your comments to iris_help @ ir.isas.jaxa.jp.
The RSRF is investigated and created by Takashi Shimonishi at
the University of Tokyo.
[Data]
[Usage]
- Install
Place the new files under
IRC_SPEC_TOOLKIT_P3/ASTRO-F/IRC_SPECRED/CALIBDIR/RESPONSE/,
then edit RESPONSE_NG.lst and RESPONSE_NP.lst in the same directory
to replace the filenames in there (delete all of them) with those of new files.
- Options for irc_specred
These RSRFs were derived based on results of standard stars reduced with the standard
toolkit with the parameters of /no_slit_flat and nsum= 5--8.
No other specific options were used. The results were not very sensitive to the method
of the background sky subtraction at least for the standard stars.
- Run plot_spec_with_image with the new RSRF
You can analyze your data from plot_spec_with_image.
You do not have to start it over from irc_specred if you use the
output of plot_spec_with_image. If you work directly on the products
of irc_specred, such as *fc*.fits, you have to rerun irc_specred.
- Reference
Please refer to the Presentation file by Shimonishi in the
Phase 3 workshop for details of the processing.
