Procedure
The proposal submission process consists of 6 steps:
- Enter Proposal Title abbreviation:
- A 5 character abbreviation of your proposal title is required to identify your proposal.
- Upload Target List
- The Target List is a file written in CSV (Comma Separated Value) format. Please refer to "How to Prepare an AKARI Observation Target List". After uploading the Target List, the validity of the format (only the syntax, not the content) is automatically checked. If you want to check separately, use this tool.
- Upload Results of Visibility Tool
- This tool checks the target visibility. The numbers given by this tool should be considered as a guideline only to the chance that your targets will have for observation. Users should run the tool with their Observation Target List, and save the output as a plain text (ASCII) file to be uploaded here.
- Upload Results of Duplication Check Tool
- This tool compares the observer's Target List with the AKARI blocked target list and reports any potential duplication cases. Users should save the output of this tool as a text (ASCII) file to be uploaded here.
- Enter Proposal Information, Abstract and Scientific Justification
- This section is for personal information (name, address, telephone number, etc.) and general proposal information (Co-Is, category, title, abstract). In addition, a PDF file must be uploaded, containing the Scientific Justification (3 pages), a technical feasibility (1 page), and figures / tables / references (2 pages).
Justification of possible duplication observations should be included in the Scientific Justification part.
Use 12 point type of printable font for the text.
It is optional but strongly recommended for Japanese proposers to attach a direct translation into Japanese of text part of the Scientific Justification (3 pages) and technical feasibility (1 page) in the same PDF file.

- A confirmation page of your submission is created automatically. Shortly after, users will receive a formal confirmation by e-mail with the cover page of their proposal.
