Frequently Asked Questions ===Instruments=== Q. Can the instrument field of view be oriented to fit the source shape? A. There is no image rotator in the instruments, and the direction of the FoV is such that the scan direction is along the Ecliptic meridian. Please refer to Figure 2.4.8 in the Observers Manual Q. Can we propose with an IRC filter set combination that is not available in the current AOTs? A. The current set of AOTs are defined to be as simple (and for general purpose) as possible. Together with the technical difficulty to implement an AOT, we cannot add a new AOT. Please consider to use a combination of AOTs. ===Proposal submission=== Q. For the definition of duplication, is a proposal with only a filter difference regarded as a duplication of a similar proposal? A. Proposals with a different AOT are NOT regarded as duplication. Proposals with different parameters are also NOT regarded as duplications even if the proposals consist of the same AOT. Q. Can I submit a proposal for Open Time, which was rejected as a Mission Programme? A. The judgment may change according to the reason of rejecttion at the Mission Programme stage. However, almost all unsuccesful proposals were rejected due to bad visibility. Therefore, there is little opportunity to accept the proposal at the Open Time stage if the target position is as same as those at the Mission Programme stage. Q. Who judges the proposals? A. The proposals are peer reviewed by a selected panel of referees (TAC) The members are anonymous for the moment (2005/11/05). Q. Is there a template for the OT proposal? A. There is no template for the Japanese/Korea Open Time opportunity. There is a template for European proposals. Please prepare the proposals (Scientific Justification/Technical Feasibility) in line with the guidelines. Q. Should the "abstract" be prepared in PDF format? A. A description of the "Abstract" is input directly (only for Plain text) during the proposal submission process (No. 6). Proposers only have to prepare the PDF file for the Scientific Justification/Technical Feasibility documents. Q. Can Figures and Tables be put within the text body of the Scientific Justification/Technical Feasibility? A. You are kindly requested to put figures and tables on separate pages from the text as is described in the guidelines.
