The latest version iris_sky is available from here. [1.4MB; ver.1.72: 08/07/05]

Description

iris_sky is an IDL tool to browse IRAS and 2MASS images and overlay the AKARI Field-of-Views. Details are described in readme.txt ( [English] , [Japanese] ) and quick tour (for the version 1.4), which are also in the package. IDL 6.1 or higher (or IDL Virtual Machine on the version) is required.

Version 1.7 is prepared for the Phase 3 observation planning. AOTs and parameters are adjusted. Only NIR FoV is displayed by default. Note that positions of detector and slits are NOMINAL values. Together with the pointing uncertainties the user should not assume that the target will be observed exactly as shown in the plot.

Version 1.72 fixes a problem on downloading 2MASS images under some environments.

Not all functions of iris_sky have been tested and validated. Users are encouraged to use this tool to check if their observation plan is properly expressed in their target list, but are also kindly asked to check the results carefully by eye. Any comments and questions on this tool are welcome.
