The AKARI Point Source Catalogues

The distribution of infrared sources detected by AKARI All-Sky Survey. This colour composite image is created from 9(blue), 18(green), and 90(red) μm data. The horizontal strip in the middle is the galactic plane (The Milky Way). A large fraction of sources in blue are the stars within our galaxy, and those in red are mostly new born stars and distant galaxies. Slanted stripes near the centre of the image are regions without data.
