Start iris_sky

• Extract files from archive and execute IDL VM.

  zcat iris_sky-mt1.4-vm.tar.gz | tar xf -
  cd iris_sky-mt1.4
  idl -vm=iris_sky.sav

• Click "click to continue"
  • then 'iris_sky' main window pops up.

Make New Target Entry

• Select 'TargetList' Menu -> 'New Entry', or Push 'New' button at bottom.

• 'Target List Editor' window pops up.

• Enter target name and push 'SIMBAD resolver' button,

The resolved coordinate are obtained.

• Choose AOT.

• Choose parameters for AOT.
• Input the other parameters:
  • The number of pointings
  • Priority
  • Group parameters if necessary.
  • Comments if any.

• Push 'Done' button, then,
  • In the main window, IRAS 12 micron image around the target position is shown.
  • The entered target appears in the target table at the bottom.
  • Pixel value and coordinate at mouse position are printed at the upper part.

Change Image

• Choose Menu 'Image' -> '2MASS' -> 'J band'

then 2MASS J-band image is downloaded from an image server through the Internet and displayed.

Change Plot Option

• Choose Menu 'Plot' -> 'Option'

• Option window pops up.
• Change options:
  • Zoom in/out image
  • Detector plot on/off
  • Color table and scale
  • etc.

Save to file

• Choose Menu 'TargetList' -> 'Save File', or push 'Save' button at the bottom.
