Welcome to SPICA conference 2013 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The registration desk will open around 8:40 on June 18th The entrance of the conference hall is behind the building from the main street (Hongo-dori). Weather ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tokyo is in the middle of rainy season. We recommend you to bring an umbrella. Outside temperature is usually warm (25-30 deg C) and very humid. The weather forecast can be found at: http://www.jma.go.jp/en/week/ The organizing committee wishes comfortable weather during the week. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Hints to the travelers ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From Narita Airport: If you stay near the University of Tokyo or Ueno area, we recommend you to take Keisei Line to Ueno station then take taxi (approx. 1000 JPN). It is 20-30 min by foot from Ueno station to the University campus. Posters ------------------------------------------------------------------------ All posters will be presented throughout the conference period. A poster must be 90 cm or smaller in width. There is no solid limit in height, but practically it should be no longer than 150. We recommend to print your posters at your home institutes. No poster printing service is available in the University campus or around it. There are a few shops at 20-30 min distance but only few speak English. Banquet ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We are happy to know many of you will join the banquet. The banquet will be held on June 20 from 19:00 to 21:00 at Hotel Chinzanso-Tokyo: http://www.hotel-chinzanso-tokyo.com/ The hotel is famous for Hotaru (fire-fly; pretty insects blinking weak light) in this season. The party room (by the way it is called "Galaxy") has a private garden from which you can walk along to the Hotaru place. We will arrange buses from/back to the conference hall to the hotel. No particular dress code is set, however, too casual costumes such like T-shirts + short pants should be avoided. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8. Proceedings ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We will publish a conference proceedings from Astronomical Society of Pacific (ASP) Conference Series. Anybody who presents a talk/poster is welcome to submit papers.
