Outline of the Workshop

The primary purpose of the workshop is to highlight the scientific importance of mid- and far-infrared astronomy after ISO, SIRTF, and ASTRO-F. The importance of high resolution observations with large aperture cooled telescopes will be emphasized. Key technologies to realize large aperture cooled telescopes in space will be also discussed.

One of the possible target missions is the HII/L2 mission which incorporates a 3.5 m cooled telescope, and is now proposed to be launched around 2010.

We look forward to seeing you at ISAS.
