Introduction

ISO is operated in a completely pre-planned mode, and observing time on ISO is allocated on a `per observation' basis. Observers are not expected to be present for their observations.

The Pre-launch Call was issued in April 1994 and, as announced in the first issue of this document, this proposal submission round is the Supplemental Call as detailed in the SUPPLEMENTAL CALL FOR OBSERVING PROPOSALS - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. For this supplemental call the sky coverage is more restricted (Sect. 2.2.3).

In the following sections, the reader will be introduced to: how to specify observations for a proposal, how proposals and observations are handled at the Science Operations Centre, from receipt of proposals to execution of individual observations, and which data products are provided.
