The Infrared Space Observatory - ISO - has various capabilities to
make photometric, polarimetric, imaging and spectroscopic observations
between 2.5 and 240 
m. In this part of the manual, the observer
will learn about the satellite and the ground segment of ISO. The
capabilities of the spacecraft and the scientific payload - including
the constraints imposed - are explained.
