About The Conference

Objectives

JAXA and NASA has agreed on the Japanese participation as an international partner to the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope mission project. One of the key area of the collaboration is conducting Subaru-Roman Synergistic Observations, in cooperation with Subaru Telescope and National Astronomical Observatory of Japan.

Subaru-Roman Synergistic observations will bring great scientific benefits in astronomy since both facilities have complementary powerful wide-field and high-contrast capabilities. While both facilities are very powerful by themselves, the combination of the complementary data should bring new insights. Based on the supports by Subaru science community, Subaru Telescope is ready to reserve 100 nights during or reasonably after the Roman nominal mission period of 5.3 years after the launch.

There has been discussion, with the NASA Roman [WFIRST] Formulation Science Groups, to maximize science outputs of the Synergistic Observations through the PREVIOUS series of Subaru-Roman Workshop in 2017, 18, 19 (as a part of Subaru Telescope 20th Anniversary), and 21, and a white paper was published in 2019. As the NASA Roman Science Teams has been established in 2023, now it is a right time to establish further concrete plan of the Subaru Roman Synergistic Observations.

About the Site

The workshop will be held at Meeting Room 32 (3rd floor) of the B-con Plaza.

About the SUPER IRNET Workshop

The Subaru-Roman synergy has been also discussed within the SUPER-IRNET activity where the discussion is not limited to the 100 nights and involves the other facilities such as Euclid. The SUPER-IRNET second workshop will be jointly held in the same place (B-con Plaza) in July 23-26, just after the Roman-Subaru Synergistic Observation Workshop V. Please note that the registration form is different.

Zoom Connection

Zoom info will be sent to indivisual particepants. Please register, if not yet.
